Sunday 9th February 2014 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Czech Scrolls arriving from Prague. The 1,564 sacred scrolls were recovered from the ruined synagogue at Michle outside Prague. In 1942 a group from the Prague Jewish community brought treasures from the deserted communities and destroyed synagogues to the comparative safety of Prague. In 1963 Eric Estorick, a London art dealer purchased the scrolls and brought them to London where they were lovingly restored and sent out on loan to synagogues around the world. These images are from the Service to mark this special date where some of the scrolls were brought back for the ceremony.
