Comic Relief

These Portraits, taken from January until March 18th (comic relief day) 2011, grew out of an idea I had to capture a generation of comedians in a white suit.

I approached the internationally recognised British designer Ozwald Boateng who kindly made available to me one of his white suits.

All portraits were photographed in less than 10 minutes, without prior knowledge of the location, after which the comedians were invited to sign the lining of the jacket.

The suit was a highlight in the Comic Relief auction on E-bay and sold for £890.00

Leading Lights

Britain is presently one of the world leaders in the Sciences. However, the lack of students taking up science degrees will lead to a vacuum of specialty scientist in 20 years eventually undermining this leading role.

Brief: To promote science degrees in the UK by portraying 20 science ambassadors in engaging and interesting ways discarding the white coat and stuffy lab settings.

The ambassadors ranged from biochemical engineers working on formulas for washing detergents, to research associates working on revolutionary techniques to produce 'Carbon Neutral' energy from coal to mechanical engineers designing giant industrial gear boxes used in oil, gas and power generation to marine propulsion in ships.

The project took 3 months to complete and was their most successful campaign to date.

London Philharmonic Orchestra

The 75th Anniversary press campaign and season’s brochure.

Brief: To create portraits which stand out from the normal classical image by encouraging the principal players to have fun interacting with props made from manuscripts and by holding their instruments in unusual ways.

The photographs were all taken on the same day and were very well received.
